FIMBY is a blog about natural living, family life, creativity and homeschooling. In short, it's about the Fun In My Back Yard.
Woven throughout are the stories and photographs of our family's values; being in nature and healthy living, freedom in education, the appreciation of beauty and creativity, building family and community, simple living and stewardship of home and earth.
This blog is written by Renee with the sometimes contribution of her three brilliant, creative and stinkin' cute kiddos.
Renee
Renee is a community minded gal with earthy farming sensibilities. She loves her local library, dancing, old neighborhoods, downtown farmer's markets and her husband's 5 minute walk to work. Renee also loves seasonal rhythms, making her own soap, hanging laundry and notions of homesteading.
Renee is a gardener, photographer and blogger. A homemaker and homeschooler. Happiest when creating - a home, a family, a garden, a good blog, a beautiful photo. She has always loved nature but is now also becoming an enthusiastic outdoors woman and adventurer; joining her family on their weekly outings of ever increasing mileage and altitudes.
On a daily basis you'll find her homeschooling her kiddos, having an afternoon tea, cooking plant-based gluten free meals, eating dark chocolate, organizing and simplifying her family's life. Renee delegates as much of the household cleaning as her family will allow and runs errands as little as possible.
Writing this blog is one of her creative outlets and although she likes to make this space pretty you can be sure she also keeps things real.
Family
We are a family of writers, designers, artists, gardeners, engineers, homemakers, naturalists, sewists, adventurers, readers, soapmakers, programmers, idealists, photographers, problem solvers, outdoor enthusiasts and followers in the way of Christ.
The adults of our crew have full time day jobs as homeschooler/life manager of our home (Renee) and programmer/analyst at a small liberal arts college (Damien). The three children of our family help Mommy keep home, study subjects that interest them, craft and play a lot and are learning to assist Daddy in getting ready for our weekend hikes.
