Celine's Day

My oldest child turned 9 today - yikes. It was a lovely day. This year Celine's birthday coincided with day one of Patagonia's Memorial Day weekend sale. An annual event in our family's clothing shopping. We also make a pilgrimage to the Freeport store on President's Day weekend and Labor Day weekend to take advantage of 40-50% off sales on already discounted clothing. Best deal around.

So we spent the afternoon in Freeport (Damien took the day off) getting some new clothes and hanging out in the new Coffee By Design cafe in LL Bean. On either end of the trip we ate some good food. Waffles with strawberry sauce, gluten free and awesome I'd like to add, for breakfast and Chirashi Sushi, by Celine's request for supper. We all LOVED Chirashi Sushi, it's easy to make and I highly recommend trying it for an easy "sushi" meal.

We didn't really have a birthday party this year, the first time in 9 years, but had a friend spend last Sunday with us and went to Prince Caspian and had pizza supper. By the way I didn't really like that movie as much as the first, but the kids thought it was great.

I didn't get any good shots of Celine today so this picture from earlier this month will have to do. And yes, she is as lovely in person as she is in pictures, lovelier in fact.

OK, you can have a birthday at my house if I can have one at yours! I love the Patagonia b-day shopping trip and that Chirashi Sushi sounds fabulous. I'm going to try that. I've been too lazy to try to make the real deal, this sounds like just the trick. We love sushi in our house! Your 9 yr old really does remind me of my 9 yr old only with brown eyes, her b-day was May 25th. And, yes, she is lovely in her picture.
