The Boy Turns 11

Laurent's birthday this year (last weekend, right before the kids got sick) was fairly low-key.

Part of that is being new to a place so there isn't a long list of friends to invite.

Part of it is that Laurent is just a really easy going guy and generally easy to please. I should say his baby year was a nightmare - colic all over the place - but since that time he has been a joy to raise.

The boy loves to ski - the more downhill the better. And what he wanted for his birthday was that thrill. As well as a lesson from our friend M-H (imagine a lovely, feminine, rolling off your tongue, French name here).

Waffles for breakfast and a few presents to open. Salad with store bought dresssing for lunch (store bought dressing was specifically requested, as it is a rare occurrence). An afternoon ski lesson. Homemade veggie pizza, cake and a family movie.

It was a good day. A day for Laurent.

Happy Birthday my dear, sweet, sunshine boy (on his way to becoming a man - ack!)

Happy Birthday, Laurent! It is so fun to watch the part of you we get to see here growing into a fine young man. Have another great year full of adventure and joy.

Happy Days and a Happy Year to a very talented, handsome, smart, and sweet young man. We love it when your mom shares your artwork. Keep on drawing and creating!

And my boys would agree with you on the storebought dressing. They'd think they'd died and gone to heaven if their mom came home with Hidden Valley Ranch. :D

Oh, I am NOT in favor of boys getting older! We have two boys - one just turned 6 on Saturday, and the older will turn 9 at the end of March. But God did not consult me on this matter. :) Wishing you the loveliest of years, Laurent!
