This is just too cool. I want to try this out - maybe next weekend I can audition to be part of the veggie orchestra at your house.

Cool! I hadn't heard of

Cool! I hadn't heard of this, so I'm glad you mentioned it. A mommy CD that I love is by Serene and Pearl of AboveRubies.org. Here's a link to the CDs: http://rubies.articledirectoree.com/component/option,com_virtuemart/page,shop.browse/category_id,6/Itemid,27/

I have Soothe Me. It's rather folksy, acoustic guitar, a bit produced-at-home-ish, soothing, and very inspiring for a mama and wife.

Yep, I too am increasingly

Yep, I too am increasingly disenfranchised with the Republican party. But not enough to make a break yet. There are good, moderate things happening within it.

I love what you said about church's forking over $50,000. That's what it should be all about. Can you imagine having that built in as an expected church expense?! How refreshing!

Ya how about a little east and the a bit North. We dont even have to pay any health premium cost, although I am sure the taxes we pay cover those costs.

Iona

Ever since I left your house, where I heard Laurent lustily singing along to Iona, I cannot get that song out of my head. It's a very interesting melody, to which Laurent gave justice, but all I can remember is Iiiiiii-iiiiii-iiiii-o-na! Help!!!!!

Thanks for recommendations

Mel, thanks for the feedback. I am familiar with all the music you mentioned and another friend e-mailed me good recordings to check out.

We are slowly working our way through classical music. Slow as in we will cover different composers over the course of years. We started with Beethoven and we're listening to Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker right now and we'll listen to Handel's messiah in a couple weeks. After Christmas I'll try to tie in our musical selections with some concerts we are going to.

Classical Tunes

Welcome to the wonderful world of classical music! My favourite pieces by Beethoven would have to be:

Sonata for Piano NO.14 (Moonlight Sonata)
Fur Elise (Mom used to play this all the time at home)
Ode to Joy from 4th Symphony

But of course there are many other favourites to check out for classical artists.....Mozart (Eine Kleine Nachtmusik), Tchaikovsky (Waltz of the Flowers, etc.) and Schubert (Ave Maria). Since Christmas is coming up soon, an awesome Christmas Classical albumn I have is "Classic Christmas", which is one of my favourites at Christmas time.
Now I am playing classical music for our little one, as studies show it is relaxing for them in the womb. Smile.
Enjoy, Melanie

Eye opener for sure!

()Renee, we saw Super Size Me last night and I don't think we will ever set foot in a McDonalds again. Not that we ate there much either (maybe once a year or two) But I couldn't believe the study he did and how much weight he gained in just 30 days. It definately was an eye opener to me about how most of society is overweight and diabetic. I would like to read the Fast Food Nation book that was talked about in the extras spot on the DVD.
