The Boy Has a Blog ~ Introducing Pictograph

It was a busy weekend. Yet again. (pst... slow weekend do come visit some time).

Sunday we went hiking and visited Damien's cousin's family. Saturday was decidedly not outdoors, but a day spent on our computers busy launching a little family project. Or rather, Damien spent a lot of time launching a project for Laurent - his first blog.

One of the reasons we wanted "to bring Daddy home" was so that he could have a more hands on role in day to day parenting as well as having more time to use his skills and expertise to help our children launch their own dreams and goals.

This is part of our plan for this next stage of family life - where we raise our children into young adults - that both of us are able to be involved daily (and offer support) as our children grow and develop their gifts and passions.

We took one more step towards that goal this weekend in creating Laurent's first blog - Pictograph.

We Damien created Pictograph to give Laurent an online outlet for his art. As a way to showcase and chronicle his work as he grows as an artist. Also to give him the opportunity to earn money to support the development of his craft (those markers aren't cheap!). All artwork you see on his blog is available for sale as greeting cards.

Laurent introduces himself on his blog. You should go watch it. It's so cute, I could just eat him up!

The card you see in this photo was given to Laurent by the local Nova Scotia artist Helen Painter (no joke about the last name).

We met her at the weekly farmers market where she sells her cards. We love her artwork and witty sense of humor. Laurent has been showing her his art and they've traded prints. This is the print he chose for himself (because he loves trees and squirrels). I just love the message and couldn't agree more.

Laurent, you're going to be a great success! (you already are in this mama's eyes).

I too am very impressed. Can't buy anything at the moment but I'll be watching. So cool to see how each family is different and love when parents can share their particular giftings/strengths with their children.

Congratulations Laurent! I just checked out the blog...loved your intro! You are a super talented artist! I would love to purchase something for my kids' scrapbooks (thinking a tree of some sort for their "Family Tree" pages).
