Bergenia and finding my photographer's voice

My bergenia is gone by now but a couple weeks ago it looked like this. The days before I took these photos I was asking myself philosophical questions like "what is my photographic vision" and "what makes me tick as a photographer". It was bothering me that I didn't have a definitive answer. Taking these photos (& many more that day!) helped me in part to answer those questions.
I'm currently thinking and writing about what it is I'm doing with a camera in my hands. What do I see that I'm inspired to share? Do I have style that is uniquely my own? What's my purpose as a photographer? What are my goals for this hobby/passion of mine? Through reading, praying and writing I'm finding some answers and I look forward to sharing them someday. Till then I think these photos give a clue, to me at least, about my photographic style.

those are beautiful photos and interesting questions. they are making me think about myself. something just clicked in me some months back and i felt compelled to capture things a little differently than i had been. i am no photographer (we have to very skilled amateurs in the family) and only have a point and shoot camera, but i enjoy it and realize having a camera feels like a necessary article of clothing these days. mike took it backpacking and i am missing it as much as i miss him! nicola http://whichname.blogspot.com

I just want to let you know that even though I have really enjoyed taking pictures of my kids and family, and I especially enjoy scrapbooking those pictures, seeing all the beautiful and creatively taken pictures on your blog has really inspired me to take the time to photograph my children well. It may sound silly, but the clearer my pictures are, and the better they capture their favorite parts of childhood, the sweeter it will be to flip through their scrapbooks years from now. So, while you're thinking about your gift of photography and what more you can do with it, know that you are already blessing at least one of your readers!

i've never thought about the WHY'S as to why I love photography...it just has always...been. Rather it be mine (LOL) or someone else's...I love to expierence it. Thanks for waking me up to figure out the WHY's and maybe, in finding that out, I can become better at what i love to do.
