Geography for little ones

Well for school today the kids and I made treasure maps. This was all initiated by them I'm not sure where they got the idea, some tv program no doubt. First Celine drew a map that led to a hidden treasure in her room. The map was fairly accurate as well. Then Laurent drew a map (you needed to use your imagination) that led to his puppy in the middle of the kitchen. Then it was Mommy's turn. Celine read my map quite expertly, in spite of my limited drawing abilities. All this from their ideas - play really, yet they are learning spacial concepts, mapping skills, communication skills etc.... Isn't school fun?
