.... I said it's 5 feet high and rising. A bit cheesy but I love Johnny Cash's music.

Five Feet High and Rising could be the anthem for the northeastern United States this past week. Today the sun is going to peek out, the rain has stopped and I'm breathing a sigh of relief. We're all going a little crazy indoors and the younger two have been so full of energy they've been rolling around on the floor "pretend" fighting like little puppies. I'm so ready to say "take it outside".

The rivers of Maine, and there are many, are rushing. The river that runs through our city is very high and the kids and I went for visit yesterday afternoon. Even the TV cameraman was out getting video footage.

Last weekend before this heavy rain started we hiked at a sweet little spot that has a rushing stream called Rattlesnake Brook. This time of year it's flowing fast and furious. I can only imagine what it's like after this week of incessant rain. But last weekend it was gorgeous, just gorgeous.

I have to say pure, clean blue-green mountain waterfalls are much more my scene than brown, frothing city waterfalls. Ah... the mountains. Only 2 more days till our next hike!

Not a waterfall but beautiful icicles from last week's hike.

Your last post was so insanely helpful. It's bookmarked for me to go over in more detail. And your other writing has hit home for me, too. Pondering and pondering. You and your words are a gift! Thank you!

These photos are beautiful! I sent my two out in the rain with raincoats and umbrellas on Friday. They had a blast running around in the backyard.
